I don’t like to use DMSO

No problem! The ICE Vitrification System does not use any DMSO in either the vitrification or thaw media.

We incorporate several other common permeable and impermeable cryoprotectants in our media. One cryoprotectant we use is ethylene glycol because of its rapid permeation, good vitrification ability, and low toxicity. Because we do not use DMSO you have more time to adequately dehydrate cells and load them with the cryoprotectants. Basically, you have more time to do the procedure. Depending on the cell type to be vitrified, you have 2-4 minutes in the final vitrification solution before you have to freeze. This leaves enough time to vitrify several straws and multiple cells in one round of vitrification without having to rush the procedure.
